INSIDE THE BOOK

About this book

As computing shifts toward parallel architectures and GPU acceleration, traditional approaches to data structures and algorithms must evolve. This book dives into the challenges and opportunities of modern computing, introducing readers to WebGPU and WGSL as tools for high-performance rendering and computation. Learn how to adapt classic structures like trees, graphs, and queues for parallel execution, and explore how algorithms behave in massively concurrent environments. Ideal for developers, researchers, and students aiming to stay ahead in the computing landscape.

Strong content, uneven pacing

An enjoyable and informative read, though it could have been shorter.

I had been on the fence about this one for a while, and I should have bought it sooner. The index and cross-references are surprisingly good, which matters for a book I will come back to. The progression from chapter to chapter is well thought out; nothing feels out of order. I found myself making notes in the margins, which is always a good sign. Solid, and I would buy another book from this author without hesitation.

This is the one to get

The clearest explanation of algorithms I have come across.

A colleague recommended this and I can see why. It does something that few technical books manage: it respects the reader's time. There is a section near the end that ties several earlier ideas together in a way I had not seen before. I appreciated the honesty about what the book does not cover — it saved me from expecting things that were not there. The index and cross-references are surprisingly good, which matters for a book I will come back to. If you have the prerequisites, this is an easy recommendation. I will be keeping it on my desk rather than the shelf.
